GameLoading: Rise of The Indies Sydney Premiere: Support Variety Children's Charity and Score a Free Copy of OTTTD

Wednesday April 1 is looking to be an entertaining night for indie game fans. SMG Studios (of One More Line fame) and Microsoft Australia have partnered up to bring you two feature length documentaries - GameLoading: Rise of The Indies and Us and the Game Industry - at the Palace Chauvel Cinema on the corner of Oxford St & Oatley Rd, Paddington, NSW.

Kicking off the show at 6:30 pm is Studio Bento’s much-anticipated GameLoading: Rise of the Indies. GameLoading is a feature length documentary that explores the culture surrounding independent video game development and shares insight from the creative minds behind titles like Armello, Luftrausers, Gone Home, Depression Quest and many more. GameLoading has received excellent reviews since its first showing at GDC 2015 and April 1 will mark the first opportunity Australian indie enthusiasts will have to see this locally made product hit the big screen.

Then at 8:30 pm there will be a showing of Us and The Game Industry. Set between 2009 and 2012 in the USA and Copenhagen, US and The Game Industry shares development stories from the teams behind Journey, Antichamber and Mutazione, and other treasured indie titles.

Both films are a celebration of the indie game subculture and the endlessly talented minds that perpetuate it. If you're a part of this wonderful community, or even if you just want to know a little bit more about independent game development, then free up your schedule for April 1.

Tickets are $16 for Game Loading: Rise of The Indies and $12 for Us and The Game Industry. All profits from the event will be donated to the Variety Children’s Charity and as a neat little bonus each attendee will receive a free Steam Key for SMG studio’s Tower Defence/RTS title, OTTTD.

While there are quite a few tickets left, the Melbourne show has already sold out and April 1 is just around the corner. So, pop over to the Eventbrite page and secure your seats today.

In the interim, you can catch a sneak peak of GameLoading in our exclusive snippets from the film featured in Episode 2, Episode 3 and Episode 6 of our digital iPad magazine, Grab It. You can also read some extensive interviews with SMG Studios on three of its games in Episode 8.
